Now flying Adventure airlines!

Check out this great gallery of early aircraft designs from 1930s through 1950s patent applications.  It’s a fascinating glimpse into the past–some of the designs look practical, some wildly imaginative and some, well, you just have to say wtf?  I find it particularly interesting how, while some of the designs definitely look archaic, some of the other designs look modern and futuristic even today.  A couple of my favorites…

This one kind of looks like a fish…would that be a flying fish perhaps?Hmm, this designer may have been a smidge too literal:A combination car and airplane (you know you want one):
